說明 Introduction

This itinerary will give the possibility to discover some of the indigenous communities and tribes around Taiwan.
The government of Taiwan officially recognizes distinct tribes among the indigenous community:  Ami, Atayal, Bunun, Hla'alua, Kanakanavu, Kavalan, Paiwan, Puyuma, Rukai, Saisiyat, Tao, Thao, Tsou, Truku, Sakizaya and Sediq.

The Rukai community of Wutaior the Amis are 2 of the communities you will explore with the guide during this tour.

The Amis in the area of Taitung - the largest ethnic group among Taiwanese aborigines - are primarily fishermen due to their coastal location. Their villages were relatively large. The most important traditional ceremony is the Harvest Festival. The Ami's Harvest festival is to show the people's thanks and appreciations to the gods and to pray for harvest in the next coming year. It takes place every July to September. Moreover Amis food culture is unique because of their natural environment!

The Rukai community of Wutaior, were called Tsarisen, which means "people living in the mountain".
The Rukai population was originally centered at Dalubaling (the Big Ghost Lake) but then spread throughout southern Taiwan. The Rukai have a hierarchical society with three tiers: the chiefs, the nobility (superior nobility and inferior nobility) and the commoners. Status of a person is inherited from the parents and passed to the next generation.
