Discover a different Taichung through the history of its buildings and the artistic streets!

說明 Introduction

In the morning at the time you will decide, meeting with your English-speaking guide at your hotel or other place TBD.

► the tour starts from  the Taichung Literature Museum: it used to be police quarters, which were built in 1932 during the Japanese colonial period. It consists of six buildings, which are used for permanent exhibitions, themed exhibitions, children's literature, workshops and lectures, themed dining area, and administration.

► Visit the Six Arts Cultural Center, built in 1937 during the Japanese rule, it is a martial arts hall for daily training of martial arts officers and police. The original historical appearance is completely preserved, which is of great value for preservation, reuse and architectural research.

► The Taichung second market, built in 1917, is divided in 6 sections; each section was dedicated to a category. It’s hexagonal design make it very special ( and easy to get lost! )
Time for lunch in this area, don’t miss the specialities that the market has to offer, noodles, dumplings and buns!

► After lunch - and to digest (!) - you will walk till the Taichung Prefectural Hall - built in European style- which served as Taichung's City Hall for decades.

► The walk will continue to Miyahara,  a red-brick architecture built by Miyahara Takeo, a Japanese ophthalmology doctor in 1927. It was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. Today, it is an elegant place with several pastry businesses. Wonderfully restorated, the building is a place full of history and wonder.

► By car/van you will then visit the Luce Chapel inside the Tunghai University  designed by renowned architect Le Corbusier

► Next stop is the Rainbow Village: a  "one man show” painted by a very talented, and rather visionary, old veteran soldier, MR. Huang.

►The tour will end at the National Theater and its futuristic roof.

After the visit your guide / driver will bring you back to your hotel ( or different location in Taichung if required ).
